OUR ADVICE

Being able to slip on a pair of shoes, pour a glass of wine or freshly brewed cup of tea, and relax on your terrace or balcony in winter or spring is a treat. Our outdoor electric heaters make it an affordable one. They are made using quality materials and are equipped to generate immediate heat once plugged in. There are many different types of outdoor heaters available. Depending on your needs, there is a patio heater out there that is perfect for you.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PATIO HEATERS

Choosing the right type of heater is easier when you know the capabilities of each one. A propane heater, for example, heats a wider circumference. Most outdoor heating products fit in well with the decor of different terraces and gardens. This is because they are made using materials such as aluminium which are unimposing. The light from a bulb or the glow of a fire can even be said to improve or soften the lighting of your outdoor area.

PROPANE

If you are looking for a patio heater that will provide warmth for a large area, then you might want to consider a propane heater. It heats the air quickly and gives an inviting aesthetic to a terrace or patio. Propane heaters are not suitable for covered spaces and may be a less cost-effective option due to having to replace propane tanks.

NATURAL GAS

Choosing a natural gas heater is not a decision to be made lightly. They tend to be the most expensive outdoor heater, however, they are recognised for their durability. The chief drawback of a natural gas heater is that it needs to be connected to a gas line and it cannot be moved around like a propane or electric heater.

WOOD-BURNING

Whether you are roasting marshmallows with the kids or relaxing after a long day, it is hard to beat the visual of their glowing embers. Firelight sets a romantic and calming mood. The tranquillity that a burning log radiates is almost incomparable. A fire pit is tough to beat because everybody adores the idea of sitting around a cosy, roaring fire, however, nothing and nobody is perfect!

The main disadvantage of a wood-burning patio heater is the safety issue it poses. Embers or sparks could land on the cushions of your outdoor furniture. They are higher maintenance also because you have to clean them regularly.

ELECTRIC

There is a lot to be said in favour of electric heaters. They require less maintenance and are suitable for small terraces or patios. Using bulbs to generate heat, an outdoor electric heater functions efficiently and its understated materials mean it is not an eyesore in your little oasis.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT ELECTRIC PATIO HEATER

Depending on the size of your terrace or patio and whether it is sheltered or not will determine the type of electric patio heater you need.

All of our electric patio heaters require an outlet for them to be plugged in. Most of our outdoor heating products have 3 levels of intensity (800W / 1200W / 2000W) giving you the freedom to adjust the heating level according to the temperature on any given day.

HANGING

Hanging your patio heater will set a similar scene to your living room. If you want to have friends over for dinner on a chilly night, putting your hanging patio heater over your garden table will keep them cosy. You won’t need to worry about candles because the bulbs in our heaters give off a warm, orange glow. Our electric hanging patio heater comes with a suspension kit (chain and hook) making it easy for you to hang it.

WALL

Mounting an electric wall heater is the perfect solution to heating your terrace or balcony. You don’t need to worry about the warmth only being concentrated on one spot because our wall heaters are adjustable. Simply tilt its head to be able to adapt it as needed. It is more discreet than a hanging heater because it is hardly noticeable on the wall.

FREESTANDING

A freestanding heater can tie a garden sofa set together. Not only will it keep you warm but the mellow, orange light enhances the serenity you seek when lounging on your terrace. It needs to be able to be plugged in but is more portable in comparison to hanging or wall heaters. Although it is made using similar materials, it appears to be a natural item to have on your terrace because it is hard to see a difference between it and a freestanding indoor lamp.

DO YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE PATIO HEATER?

Deciding whether you need more than one patio heater depends on a number of factors. It depends on things such as your lifestyle and the size of your outdoor living space. Unless you are going to be hosting big parties with lots of people, one patio heater should suffice. It would be useful to have one there if you feel like sitting outside in the fresh air during the occasional evening or wintry day. Mounted heaters generally push heat in one direction so it might be worthwhile to have a few strategically placed at different intervals to ensure the entire area is heated.

If your terrace is not a straightforward square or rectangular shape, and has alcoves or irregular sections, you might need several heaters to cover the space. It is important to remember that patio heaters are not going to generate the same heat you would expect from your living room. The warmth cannot be trapped in the same way because it is exposed to cold air, however, a patio heater is an effective way of making sitting outdoors all year-round possible.

In terms of longevity, our products are made using materials such as epoxy-painted steel and aluminium. The heads of our hanging lights are fitted with protective grids to prevent any burns from involuntary contact making them safer to have in your garden.

Aside from all of the technicalities and make-up of patio heaters, they are undeniably an asset to have on your terrace or balcony. Having one or more removes the unnecessary disappointment of having to put away your garden furniture during colder months. Some of your most memorable moments might just happen bunched together with your family around a flickering fire or chatting under the warm embrace of an electric heater.
