The vintage style rug: more than just a decorative accessory

A vintage rug is more than just a decorative piece—it's a storyteller. With its distinctive patterns from the '50s, '60s, or '70s, it breathes life into a simple room, transforming it into a space filled with warmth and character, while instantly creating an inviting atmosphere in your living room.

In larger living spaces, it helps define different areas, such as between the living and dining areas, or even in a studio apartment. It also adds a subtle or bolder pop of colour, depending on your choice.

How to choose your vintage rug?

  • Colours: if you’re unsure whether to go for a rug in neutral or bolder colours, consider the existing décor and furniture in the room. If your interior is already very colourful, opt for a rug in soft tones (grey, beige, etc.) to calm the space and avoid overloading it. Conversely, if your interior is more neutral and possibly a bit dull, you can add a splash of colour with a vibrant rug that will lift the entire room.
  • Patterns and shapes: whether floral or geometric, the patterns should reflect your tastes and preferences. Some patterns are more discreet than others and should complement your décor while adding a touch of originality. The rectangular rug is the most common and easiest to integrate into any space. However, if you want something more original, why not go for a round rug that will add even more charm.
  • Size: when it comes to size, make sure you measure your space properly to ensure the rug fits perfectly. For the living room, the rug should be longer than the length of your sofa for a more aesthetically pleasing effect. In the dining room, the rug should be large enough to sit beneath your dining table and chairs. In the bedroom, it can be partially placed under the bed depending on your preferences. In a child’s room, it’s typically centred in the middle of the room so that your child can fully enjoy it when playing. In general, avoid buying a rug that is too large for your space as it will overwhelm the room and make it feel smaller. Similarly, a rug that is too small will look lost in a large room and won't create a pleasing effect.

Our rug collection complements every interior style, adding the perfect finishing touch.
