Care details
This garden table has been covered with colourless protective oil during the manufacturing process. The absorption of the oil varies depending on the species of wood. There may be a slight oily residue on the table. This can be removed with a cloth before use. There's no need to oil the table before use, you can wait until the end of summer.
Eucalyptus is a living material. Due to this, its appearance will change over time and some cracks and fissures may appear in the wood. This is normal and is what gives the hardwood its authentic charm. Robust and resistant to bad weather, Eucalyptus only needs a little maintenance to prolong its life.
Day to day, remove any leaves, stagnant water and dust from the table. Clean any stains and marks left by food with soapy water and a sponge. If your table is quite dirty, you may use a small hard brush.
In the spring and at the end of summer, clean your wooden dining table and let it dry. Once the wood is completely dry, apply a fine coat of oil to the table. Check that it's not due to rain for 24 hours after applying the oil.
If your garden table has been exposed to harsh weather, some superficial fibres may have swollen and made your table slightly rougher to touch. To fix this, you can lightly sand the table with sandpaper with the grain, until the table is smooth. Once you have finished sanding, apply a coat of oil to the wood to bring the table back to its original colour.
The oil coating on this table is what protects it from pollution, bad weather, and moisture. If you would like to let your table age, without coating it with oil, it would turn a lovely silver colour. However, it will no longer be protected.
Warning
- It's important to store your Eucalyptus table. Store it in a dry, and airy place. If you would like to cover the table for storage, we recommend using Polyester covers rather than PVC.
- Keep your table away from direct sources of heat.
- Don't leave damp sponges or cloths on top of the table for a long time, this can make the table rough to the touch.
